About MaLishKa Russians
First and foremost I am a lover of all cats, I have ever since I remember (over 50 years) had cats in my life of many different types and breeds. I always admired the Regal Russian cats when I saw them on TV commercials (especially the Dine Cat Food one) & magazine advertisements but had never had the opportunity to meet one and after being introduced to a Russian Blue cat I immediately fell in love with the breed and decided that this was the cat for me. I affectionately like to call them “My Little Kats”
I am a Brisbane based Boutique breeder of Purebred Pedigree Russian Blue Cats with purpose to breed healthy, beautiful family friendly Russian Blue kittens that will fill your heart with joy.
All care and research is taken when selecting suitable breeding mates for my cats to try to ensure that my kittens are happy, healthy, have great temperament and have a very minimal coefficient of line inbreeding to produce well balanced cats with careful attention to maintaining and improving the Russian Blue breed standards.
I have no intention of mass breeding and only wish to dedicate my efforts by applying ethical breeding practices and ensuring that my kittens are raised with all the love and attention needed to ready them for their new awaiting furever homes. My kittens are raised lovingly in the family home where they are able to roam freely (indoors & enclosed outdoor spaces) and get accustomed to everyday life activities and noises like the vacuum cleaner, washing machine, tv, my other cats and importantly children ensuring a hassle free transition to their new homes.
All kittens can leave my home at around 13 weeks of age toilet trained, socialized, microchipped, vaccinated, vet checked, wormed, desexed, Pedigree papers and for the first six weeks of going to their new homes they will be covered by free Pet Care Health Cover.

Frequently Asked Questions
Technically, no; Russian blue cats are not considered to be hypoallergenic. In fact, no cat is truly hypoallergenic. Let’s take a closer look and see if the Russian Blue cat is the right choice if you suffer from allergies.
If you suffer from cat allergies, you might not even know what’s causing it. Sure, you know that being around cats flares your allergies up, but what is the actual mechanism by which this happens?
The culprit, as it turns out, is one or more of naturally occurring proteins that all cats produce. Among these, the most common culprit is an allergen known as Fel d1. This allergen is found in cat saliva and is also produced by the sebaceous glands of their skin, and it is considered to be one of the most common allergens for humans. Cats are constantly licking themselves as a method of grooming, which causes the Fel d1 to build up on their coat. This is then released into the air and onto the ground in your home, where it’s picked up by your body and causes an allergic reaction.
As previously mentioned, no cat breed is truly hypoallergenic. Russian blues are no exception to this rule. However, if you have a minor allergy to cats (as deemed by your physician), then a Russian blue might be a breed that you can handle being around. However, if you have a serious cat allergy, then the best solution is to prioritize your own health and not have a pet cat at all.
When one stumbles upon the price tags attached to purebred kittens, eyebrows often raise in astonishment. Many assume that breeding these feline beauties is a gold mine, a quick way to riches. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. According to the Cat Fanciers’ Association, one of the world’s largest registries of pedigreed cats, breeding is not a lucrative business but rather a labor of love.
The world of cat breeding is filled with individuals who are deeply passionate about these majestic creatures. For them, breeding is not just about producing kittens for sale; it’s about preserving and enhancing specific breed characteristics, ensuring the health and well-being of each cat, and contributing to the larger feline community. It’s a journey that requires dedication, continuous learning, and significant financial investment.
Behind every kitten’s price tag is a story of sleepless nights, endless research, and countless hours spent ensuring that each cat receives the best care possible. Before diving into the costs and efforts involved, it’s essential to understand the heart and soul that breeders pour into their work. They are not mere sellers; they are guardians of the breed, ensuring that each generation is healthier, happier, and closer to the breed standard.
At first glance, one might think that breeding is simply about allowing two cats to mate and then selling their offspring. However, this simplistic view doesn’t capture the essence of professional breeding. While any two cats can reproduce, breeding is a meticulous process that involves careful planning, knowledge, and dedication.
In the world of purebred cats, breeding is about preserving and enhancing specific breed characteristics. It’s not just about producing kittens; it’s about producing quality kittens that adhere to the breed’s standards. The International Cat Association (TICA), a leading authority on feline genetics and health, emphasizes that responsible breeding is rooted in a deep understanding of genetics, health, and the specific traits of each breed.
Every recognized cat breed has a set of standards that describe the ideal physical and sometimes even temperamental characteristics of the breed. These standards are not arbitrary; they are the result of years of observation, research, and understanding of the breed’s history and purpose.
For instance, the sleek body and almond-shaped eyes of a Siamese cat or the dense coat and round face of a Persian are not mere aesthetic choices. They are deeply rooted in the breed’s history, purpose, and genetics. A professional breeder’s goal is to produce kittens that not only look like the ideal representation of their breed but also carry the health and temperament traits that make the breed unique.
While it’s true that breeders sell kittens, it’s crucial to understand that for genuine breeders, sales are not the primary mission. The heart of a cattery’s mission is to improve the breed. This means working with rare colors, refining specific features, and ensuring genetic diversity and health.
Every kitten that a breeder decides to sell is a reflection of their dedication to the breed. Often, the best kittens, those that come closest to the breed standard, remain with the breeder to become the next generation’s parents. What’s available for sale are often kittens that, while still purebred and of high quality, may not be used for further breeding.
It’s a continuous journey of learning, refining, and improving. Every litter born is a new chapter in the breeder’s ongoing story of passion and dedication to the breed.
The Russian Blue has a reputation as a gentle, quiet cat, somewhat shy, but do not get the wrong idea. Like all breeds, personalities vary from cat to cat. Their keen senses and cautious nature may be a throwback to a time when the Russian Blue had to fend for itself and fight for survival. While most Russian Blues are wary around strangers, some are extremely outgoing and friendly and do not seem to know what the word stranger means. Like making a new friend, it usually takes a little effort and time to win its trust and love. Once won over, you have a loyal and very affectionate friend. These cats become extremely attached to their owners. They like a small circle of close friends, so they are not inclined to bond with everyone who enters your home.
Once a Russian Blue settles in, you soon discover what a charming, entertaining creature you have invited into your home. Your Russian Blue will follow you from room to room just to be with you. Often, their favourite place is on your lap, shoulder or just sitting beside you. They show their love for you by rubbing against your head and licking your face. Thoughtful creatures, these cats are sensitive to their surroundings.
While the Russian Blue loves your company, they are capable of entertaining themselves during the day while you are at work or out. They are generally not destructive but move through the house with the grace of a ballerina.
Although Russians are careful when trying something for the first time, they become quite stubborn when they decide they want to do something. They are intelligent cats. Russians never forget. They remember where you put the feather or the food and will often open the cupboard or drawer to get the object of their desire. They love to play and will train you to throw toys that they can retrieve. Russians are great jumpers and go crazy for feathers and other toys.
The Russian does best in a quiet, stable environment. The generally do not like change, and it is especially important to them that meals arrive on time. Count on them to be a faithful alarm clock in the morning, just so they do not miss a meal.
If you take the time to develop a relationship with a Russian Blue, your reward will be a deep bond with this loving cat.
Russian Blues have a tolerant nature toward children who treat them kindly and respectfully. They will even put up with the clumsy pats given by toddlers, as if they recognize that no harm is meant, and if necessary they will walk away or climb out of reach to escape being hit on the head. That said, the patient and gentle Russian should always be protected from rough treatment, so always supervise very young children when they want to pet the cat.
The Russian Blue is also accepting of other animals, including dogs, as long as they are not chased or menaced by them. Introduce pets slowly and in controlled circumstances to ensure that they learn to get along together.
Russian blue cats are highly intelligent animals and require physical and mental stimulation, so it's important to give them access to toys at all times. They retain a strong hunting instinct, so a feathered fishing pole toy is the perfect plaything. Consider storing these types of toys in a cat-proof spot because: (a) your kitty will tear it to shreds, and (b) she may eat the feathers and/or the string, neither of which are good for her digestive system or overall health.
If you maintain a good hygiene routine, your Russian blue will require minimal grooming and healthcare. There are several necessary items for keeping a cat comfortable after adoption, such as investing in a toothbrush and cat-safe toothpaste (you can find these items for purchase at your local pet store or online) to keep her teeth clean and white, and a medium-toothed comb to keep her double coat smooth and luxurious. One important piece of Russian blue cat breed information is that these kitties love mealtime, so make sure that she doesn't overeat. She probably asks for food multiple times a day, but remain firm and stick to regularly scheduled feedings, using measured amounts of cat food, and avoid too many cat treats.
Much like her Siamese relative, the Russian blue is very vocal, and she'll use her voice to communicate with her pet parents when she wants to play, eat, or snuggle. She's both observant and persistent, always ensuring that her needs are met. She doesn't adapt well to change, such as varying meal times or unknown visitors, so expect to hear about it! She'll respond positively if you converse back-and-forth with her on a regular basis, which means you're never truly alone when you have a Russian blue fur baby.

The simple answer is NO !
There are many reasons why as ethical breeders we will not allow this to happen.
We welcome you to come to our home and meet our cats, we are also happy to send photos if you are not in easy travelling distance.
We do not keep male stud cats in our home, instead we send our Queens (after careful selection criteria is met) off to the cattery and stud male that we have chosen for mating.
